Bloor Street United

224/365

Location: Toronto, Ontario

The land for Bloor Street United Church, located at northwest corner of Huron Street and Bloor Street West in Toronto, ON, was purchased in 1886. In 1954, as the church was nearing the completion of its renovation, a fire broke out most of the sanctuary was destroyed. While the church was being rebuilt, the congregation met at nearby churches and Convocation Hall at the University of Toronto.

What initially struck me about Bloor Street United, was how dark the stone was on the exterior and how you could recognize that portions of the building had been built at different times from each other based on the colouring of the stonework.
